FAQ’s

Below are answers to questions we are often asked, mostly relating to weddings which we hope you will find helpful. If you have any further questions or ideas you would like to discuss please contact us at evertidemusic@hotmail.com.

 

Are you experienced musicians?

We have been playing together for over five years, playing at our first wedding in 2012 so we know exactly what we’re doing when it comes to your wedding or event 🙂

Prior to Evertide, Rachel was singing from a very young age and started gaining performance experience with local big bands in her teens before starting to sing solo around age 19 at events and gigs. Kev has been playing guitar for 20+ years and after finishing his music degree up north he gigged in many bands before moving back to Poole around 7 years ago. Kev also teaches guitar so is very well rehearsed!

 

How do we book you?

Pop us an email (evertidemusic@hotmail.com) with your wedding/event date and venue (if you know them!) and we will let you know our availability and send across our list of packages and prices. If you like what you see we kindly ask for a £100 deposit to secure your date in our diary.

What happens in the lead up to our wedding/event?

We will be in regular contact by email (or phone if you prefer, but we will confirm all discussions in writing) to confirm set up times, locations, song choices etc. We will email you several weeks before your wedding/event with a polite reminder about the final balance payment which we kindly ask to be paid one week prior to the big day.

When will you arrive to set up?

We arrive at least an hour before we are due to start playing and discreetly set up so as not to get in the way of any of your other suppliers.

Will you know where to set up?

Don’t worry we will liaise with your venue beforehand to arrange this. We have played at many local wedding venues so if we’ve been there before, even better! During the wedding ceremony we normally set up in a suitable space at the back of the room so we don’t appear in the beautiful photographs of you saying your vows!

How much space do you need?

Approximately 2×2 meters squared with access to a mains socket, although we have an 50 meter extension lead so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Can you play outside?

Should the weather allow it then yes. We just ask for a covering/shade of some kind as we prefer our equipment to be out of direct sunlight and in case we get rained on!

Will our venue ask for any documents from you?

Yes they may ask for Public Liability Insurance and a PAT testing certificate which we have in PDF format and can email across to your venue.

If we book more than one wedding package, will there be a gap in between sets whilst you set up?

We have three PA systems so we are able to set up however many systems we need in advance in the locations where we will be playing. This means we can move with your guests and start up the music again right away.

Can we choose what songs you play?

As part of our Wedding Ceremony package we learn up to five songs of your choice (1 x bridal party entrance, 3 x signing of the register and 1 x couple’s exit). You are welcome to choose these from our set list or if we don’t already play them we can learn a bespoke acoustic version for you. We are also happy to learn your first dance song if we are playing for your evening reception.

We play a mixture of our set list (some recent chart songs, some jazz songs etc.) We find that this keeps guests of all ages happy as hopefully everyone will hear some songs they know. We cover all genres of music and we don’t tend to write a set list in advance as we adapt our songs according to the volume, the atmosphere and what we feel people are enjoying on the day. However you are very welcome to have a look at the set list on our website and please feel free to let us know if there a few songs that you would particularly like to hear on the day (or equally if there are any that you dislike!)

Do you have enough songs to play all day?

Yes we do and are happy to play for as long as you want us (we mean it, we did a wedding last year where we played for 6 hours, with no repeats!)

How long are your sets?

Each of our packages (apart from the ceremony) lasts up to 2 hours, split into sets if needs be although we’re happy to play for 2 hours straight through. If we take a break (during your wedding breakfast for example which often goes on for longer than 2 hours) we will put on a nice background iPod playlist.

We would recommend hiring our DJ as well if you are booking one of our evening packages so he can play during our break and afterwards to keep the party going once we’ve finished.

Do we need to feed you?

If we are with you all day then yes please! (oh and by the way, Kev’s a veggie!)

Do you travel?

Yes we are very happy to. We do not charge for petrol within a 20 mile radius of BH12, however any miles outside of that area are charged at 50p per mile.

Can we see what you’re up to and where you are playing?

We regularly post on Facebook and Instagram (search for ‘Evertide Music’) so give us a ‘like’ or ‘follow’ and keep up to date with wedding fairs, public gigs, video snippets and shameless selfies!!

Are you two a couple? (we get asked this a lot!)

Yes, we have been happily married since August 2014. We met when Rachel was singing at The Boatshed in Poole where Kev was due to gig the following week. One rehearsal later, Rachel joined Kev the next week and the rest is history! Being fairly recently married means that we completely understand weddings, budgets and everything that comes with planning a wedding so you’re in good hands!
